Reconciliation Action Plan

We are pleased to unveil our first Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

The RAP, endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, covers our initiatives from May 2026 to April 2028, and sets out practical and accountable actions across four key focus areas.

The RAP was launched at a site event at the Birr Wunju Nganka yarning circle at Thunderbird Yajarra Jalbiyi Village. Senior Joombarn-buru and Nyikina Elder, Rona Charles, commenced the event by conducting a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony.

Rona is also a talented artist and painted our RAP artwork, Marndarra Jadyi, which means 'everyone together' and is centred around Mt Jowlaenga – a sacred place close to Thunderbird.

The RAP brings together many initiatives we've already started as part of our ongoing reconciliation journey at Thunderbird. It provides a clear framework for our work with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal employees, contractors and communities.

RAP focus areas

Our RAP is structured around four key areas:

  • Relationships – building stronger, more consistent engagement with Traditional Owner partners and communities

  • Respect – supporting cultural awareness and recognising the significance of Country

  • Opportunities – increasing Aboriginal employment, training and business participation

  • Governance – embedding accountability and tracking our progress

Looking ahead

We recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing process that requires listening, learning and changing how we do business over time. This includes being open about where we need to improve and taking responsibility for doing better.
